The Pantheon Wars is a fourteen-book saga I wrote while living in Aguascalientes, Mexico — a city bursting with color and culture that undoubtedly seeped into these pages more than I realized at the time. The Mindweaver's Lie is Book One, followed by seven more finished worlds so far. The rest of the saga is still being written.
Dutch is my native tongue — I've spoken and written it effortlessly since childhood. But I made a deliberate choice to write this entire series in English: a language I absorbed not just in classrooms, but through the flickering glow of old Cartoon Network reruns and late-night marathons of American television.
Over time, something fascinating happened. Day by day, episode by episode, my thoughts slowly shifted from Dutch to English. Now I dream in English, structure arguments in English, even whisper half-formed ideas to myself in English rather than my mother tongue. It wasn't accidental — it was a barrier I wanted to cross, because I found the challenge invigorating rather than intimidating. Writing an entire novel in a language you didn't grow up with forces you to weigh every metaphor, every turn of phrase, with fresh intentionality. Each sentence becomes a choice instead of a reflex.
Every world in this book is a cage. What differs is who built it, and why.
